"Investigators of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Russian Criminal Investigation Service jointly with the FSB of Russia conducted a complex of investigative and operational measures that resulted in detention of Ukrainian citizen Roman Ternovskyi, who was involved in the activity of the Right Sector organization banned in the Russian Federation, in the territory of the Rostov Oblast.
"It has been established that Ternovskyi, as a member of the Right Sector organization, has repeatedly participated in pickets, rallies and other public events in the territory of Ukraine. In addition, using an account in Facebook social media platform, Ternovskyi promoted the activities of the Right Sector organization among users of Internet, including people permanently residing in the territory of the Russian Federation.
"The above actions of Ternovskyi are directed against the interests of the Russian Federation and are qualified by the investigation under Part 2 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, providing for criminal liability for participation in the activities of an extremist organization," the Committee said in the statement.
During the search conducted in Ternovskyi's home in Rostov-on-Don, law enforcers found clothes and other personal belongings with Right Sector insignia, the Committee said.
The court has arrested the suspect.
