The National Police in Zaporizhia has detained a female owner of the hostel where five people were killed in fire in early hours of Oct. 2.

This was announced by head of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine in the Zaporizhia region Oleh Zolotonosha on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.

"Regarding the night fire at Zhukovskoho Street, the preliminary reason of the fire is inflammation in the electric power circuit in a hallway on the second floor. As a result, five people were killed. The investigative department has initiated criminal proceeding into the fact under part 2 article 270 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of legally required fire safety - ed.).

"In addition, the female owner of the premises who let it out was detained under article 208 of the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine. Investigation continues," Zolotonosha wrote.

In early hours of Oct. 2, a fire erupted in a two-floor building where a hostel is located in Zaporizhia. Five people were killed in the accident. The hostel had operated since fall 2016 and never held any fire safety tests.Источник: https://censor.net.ua/en/v457774
