"Brigade's new positions were shelled as hell. Soldiers repelled dozens of enemy attacks. They now call us immortal," - Commander of 72nd Brigade Sokolov. VIDEO

During the recent escalation around Avdiivka, "DPR" militants fired thousands of shells on positions seized by Ukrainian fighters from the enemy.

As reported by Censor.NET citing Ukraine's Military TV, this was announced by Commander of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade Andrii Sokolov.

"Judging by the fierce fighting for this piece of land, for this observation post of the enemy that we took, this position was of utter importance for militants. During the five days of the active phase of fighting, thousands of shells fell on a piece of land of several ares. Our soldiers repulsed up to dozen enemy attacks. The situation that we had here was a test of the maturity of our armed forces, and I believe that we successfully passed it," the commander said.
