The games will take place in September 2017 in Toronto. Applications for participation from veterans who were wounded in action or on duty are accepted by the end of December this year.

"It is extremely important for us that Ukraine gained the right -- and has confirmation from Invictus Games sponsors -- for participation in the competition of those who have been wounded and have a chance to show themselves in the games of the invincible," Ukraine's Vice PM on European and Euro-Atlantic integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsyntsadze told a briefing.

Ukraine's Sports Minister Ihor Zhdanov says Ukrainian veterans will compete in athletics, power-lifting, swimming, archery, bicycle racing, and indoor rowing.

The Ukrainian team will be trained for the competition by several ministries, state bodies, volunteers and NGOs.
