As reported by Censor.NET citing TSN, a barrel afloat was the imaginary enemy for the Coast Guard soldiers at the drills. According to the officers, the soldiers coped with the task well. Besides drills, the coast guard also fulfills real combat missions at the Sea of Azov since it is in charge of guarding 175 nautical miles of the border with the Russian Federation. The coast guard boats crews carry out several tasks including careful monitoring of the militants' activity and warding off the Russian border guards trying to approach the Ukrainian shore from time to time.
The servicemen have lost three their fellows-in-arms over two years of the war, while 12 more have been injured. Two coast guard boats were destroyed: one was hit by guided missiles launched by the Russian terrorists from the shore in 2014, and the second one tripped an enemy anchored mine last year.
