Prosecution asks 15 years in jail for each of Russian GRU officers Yerofeyev and Aleksandrov. VIDEO

The prosecution is asking 15 years in jail with confiscation of property for Russian GRU officers Yevgeny Yerofeyev and Alexander Aleksandrov.

This was announced by a representative of state prosecution during the trial in the Holosiivskyi district court of Kyiv, Censor.NET informs.

Initially, the prosecution asked this punishment for Yerofeyev.

For another GRU officer, Alexander Aleksandrov, the prosecution also insisted on 15 years in jail and confiscation of property.

According to prosecutors, that's a maximal punishment stipulated under articles incriminated to Yerofeyev and Aleksandrov.

Before the sentence comes into force, the Russian soldiers should be kept arrested, prosecution demands.

As reported, Russian GRU operatives Alexander Aleksandrov and Yevgeny Yerofeyev were apprehended by Ukrainian soldiers near Shchastia on May 16, 2015. Four days later they were announced of suspicion of participation in the so-called "LPR."

On May 22, the Shevchenkivskyi district court of Kyiv arrested the two for two months.
