The Security Service of Ukraine declares the detention of a Russian Federation citizen, the Stavropol Krai resident Gadzhiyev. According to the agency, the Russian police offered him to “serve his term for auto theft” by travelling to 'the Russian town of Donetsk' and assisting with the depreserving and repair of the armored vehicles. This information was published on the SBU official website Friday, Jan. 30.

According to Censor.NET, Gadzhiyev himself confirmed this information in the interview to Dozhd TV channel journalist Timur Olevskii. He said that he previously worked as a car mechanic. Gadzhiyev was allegedly arrested on suspicion of auto theft in late December and has been subsequently sent to the territory of Ukraine under threat of prison sentence. There he became a tank driver mechanic in the militants' August battalion, deployed in the city of Krasnyi Luch in the Luhansk region.
