An assistant of a coalition people's deputy was caught red-handed while receiving a bribe.

Censor.NET reports quoting Chief Military Prosecutor Anatolii Matios as saying on Facebook.

On Jan. 3, 2017, the Lviv garrison military prosecutor's office and the National Police Economic Protection Department in the Lviv region detained a coalition MP aide for extorting and receiving a bribe in the amount of 140,000 hryvnia ($5,022), the prosecutor wrote.

According to him, the lawmaker's aide demanded money from a businessman for non-interference in the construction of an apartment building, in particular not sending inquiries of deputy to law enforcement and regulatory authorities.

The perpetrator was detained under article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

"The bribe was found and seized in full during the examination of the scene," Matios said.
