As reported by a correspondent for Censor.NET, Yefremov accused the prosecutor of concocting the evidence in his case noting that the counsel for the prosecution tried to make Volodymyr Medianyk, a witness in the case and former member of the Party of Regions, to sign several pages of allegedly forged testimony.

As reported by TSN, the defenders of the former MP confirmed that they were going to keep filing disqualification motions.

Yefremov continues claiming that the case against him was trumped up: "Only field mice were not interviewed in the Luhansk region over 2.5 years. It got to the point that having no witnesses against me, the investigators come to courts and propose defendants to commute their sentences in exchange for signing testimonies against me."

Four documents with almost every word in lock-step were allegedly entered upon the record, according to Yefremov.

Yefremov said Dignity and Freedom Day was very important for him, and if he was the one to blame for the deaths of the Heavenly Hundred, he would have bagged for their families' pardon, but he does not feel his guilt. The former MP was also reluctant to comment on the Russian aggression against Ukraine:

- Did Russia wage war against Ukraine?

- You should ask the president since he was the one who signed the Minsk agreements.

- Is Russia the occupier or not anyway? Is it the aggressor state?

- I have already answered the question.

Opposition Bloc MP Yurii Miroshnychenko came to support his former fellow party member.

As reported, Yefremov was detained in Boryspil airport the morning of July 30 on suspicion of infringement of the territorial integrity of Ukraine. The detention was intended to prevent a possible escape of the suspect. In the evening of the same day he was indicted.

The PGO had detained Yefremov previously. He had been arrested with the possibility of release on a 3.7 million hryvnia bail and bailed out by former Party of Regions MP Borys Kolesnikov.

The court ordered the notorious politician to wear an electronic bracelet.

According to investigators, current charges against Yefremov are related to financing separatists in the Luhansk region.

As also reported, several criminal proceedings have been instituted against him.

Aug. 1, 2016, the Pechersk district court of Kyiv remanded Yefremov in a 60-day custody.

Shortly after, another former Party of Regions deputy Volodymyr Medianyk was detained as a suspect in the Yefremov case.
