This was announced by volunteer Yan Osoka in his Censor.NET blog.
"He wanted to become a pilot and operate a combat aircraft with Ukraine's coat of arms on its tail," the volunteer wrote.
Serhii Alifirenko was born on June 30, 1992 in the village of Monachynivka, the Kupiansk district, the Kharkiv region. In 2010, he graduated from the higher vocational school No.34 as cook-confectioner. Then he was called up for military service in the 40th Tactical Aviation Brigade where he fell in love with the aircraft. This year, he signed a contract and joined his military unit in spring.
"Serhii saw his future only through a military career. After the war, he wanted to enter Ivan Kozhedub Kharkiv University of Air Force. It would definitely happen but for the war. He died of a shrapnel injury in a grenade launcher attack at around 9 p.m. Oct. 26 in the area of Marinka village, the Donetsk region," Osoka added.
Serhii Alifirenko will be buried in Kupiansk on Oct. 29.
"This guy was a bright symbol of Ukrainian warrior. Kind, sincere, intelligent, with a big heart and clean eyes. Nom de guerre "Sokil" (Falcon) would match him as he raved about skies that eventually took him forever," the volunteer concluded.
