62-year-old Valerii Timonin, a minibus driver who attempted to stop the man who killed two patrol police officers in Dnipro City, has been awarded by Interior Minister Arsen Avakov with a Fort-17 pistol.

As reported by Censor.NET, this was announced by the minister's adviser, MP Anton Herashchenko on his Facebook page.

"Valerii Timonin, a 62-year-old driver of passenger minibus, is awarded by a decree of Interior Minister Arsen Avakov with Fort-17 pistol for his courage and bravery demonstrated by an attempt to stop an armed criminal, risking his life.


"Timonin was shot at to kill two times. The shots missed him miraculously, hitting his vehicle hood.

As reported, a traffic law violator shot a patrol officer dead and wounded his female partner in Dnipro City Sunday morning. According to preliminary information, the patrol crew stopped a Citroen car for violation of traffic rules. The driver began to resist the police officers, made a few shots, and fled the scene.
