Russian journalist Alexander Shchetinin found dead in Kyiv. PHOTOS

The friends of Alexander Shchetinin found him dead on the balcony of his own apartment on Kostiantynivska Street today, Aug.28.

It was his birthday today, Censor.NET reports citing Kyiv Operatyvnyi's Facebook.

"Shchetinin's friends came to wish him a happy birthday, but found the journalist dead on the balcony. He sat on a chair with a gunshot wound to the head (a gun was under the chair). According to information from reliable sources, the case is being investigated as a suicide, as Alexander sent an e-mail to one of his family members declaring his intention to commit suicide," the report reads.

The last Shchetinin's post on Facebook seems quite strange in the context: "I'm scared. I do not know how to live". It was Shchetinin's reaction to the occupation of Crimea.

Alexander Shchetinin was a famous blogger and founder of the Novyi Region news agency. The journalist gave up his Russian citizenship and became a Ukrainian citizen. Shchetinin called Vladimir Putin his personal enemy and criticized 'fascist dictatorship' established in Russia by Putin.
