The officers of the Security Service of Ukraine recorded Judge of the Supreme Economic Court Viktor Shvets accepting a bribe. Large amounts of money and a Hungarian passport were found as the law enforcers raided his office and home.

Censor.NET reports citing the statement by the SBU press center.

"The officers of the Security Service of Ukraine recorded the judge accepting $5,000 in bribe in one of Kyiv's cafes. Shvets extorted a total of $10,000 from an entrepreneur in exchange for a promise not to create problems to his business. The judge is also suspected of stealing his own luxury car in order to collect the insurance money.

"The law enforcement officers seized nearly $300,000 in cash, promissory notes for a total amount of $475,000, jewelry, and a passport of a citizen of Hungary issued in the name of the judge during searches in his office and place of residence," the statement reads.

The pretrial investigation of the criminal case initiated under Part 2 of the Article 15, Part 4 of the Article 190, and Part 4 of the Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is underway.

Earlier, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yurii Lutsenko personally served notice of suspicion to Judge of the Supreme Economic Court of Ukraine Viktor Shvets July 27. SBU apprehended Supreme Economic Court Judge Shvets while accepting a bribe March 24, 2016.
