53rd Brigade deputy commander nabbed selling ammunition in ATO area, - Matios. PHOTOS

The deputy commander of the 53rd Mechanized Brigade was detained in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) area while attempting to sell ammunition.

Censor.NET reports, citing Chief Military Prosecutor Matios' Facebook.

"I don't want to believe it is real, but it is! The deputy [commander - ed.] of the 53rd Mechanized Brigade sold 7.62, 5.45 rounds and RGD-5 grenades. At the price of 66,880 hryvnia (approx. $2,690). He sold death that could (no longer can) find his subordinates, civilians or random people," Matios wrote.

According to him, the SBU Anti-Corruption Department conducted prompt investigation after which the perpetrator was nabbed red-handed by the Chief Military Prosecutor's Office.

Pursuant to the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the officer is faced with 12 years in prison.
