On July 2, MP Oleksandr Onyshchenko left Ukraine on board a plane bound for Minsk (Belarusia). In the near future, the lawmaker will be put on domestic and international wanted lists.

Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yurii Lutsenko said today on the sidelines of the Verkhovna Rada, Censor.NET reports citing PGO's press service.

"I am satisfied with the decision of the Ukrainian parliament, which has shown that the spirit of the law, justice, and public interest are above any corporate interest," Lutsenko stated.

The prosecutor general demonstrated the draft notice of suspicion of a criminal offense that will soon be signed by Onyshchenko as required by law.


Lutsenko also said that according to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Oleksandr Onyshchenko left Ukraine July 2 on board a plane bound for Minsk. Prior to today's vote, none of the law enforcement agencies in Ukraine had the right to stop the inviolable MP who could freely move in any direction.

He added that after the notice of suspicion is served, Onyshchenko will become a subject of domestic and international investigations intended to take him to court.

The prosecutor general noted that in case Onyshchenko's whereabouts remain unknown and he does not return to Ukraine, the updated legislation provides for bringing him to justice in absentia and confiscating all his property.

Earlier, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine raided the office of MP Oleksandr Onyshchenko March 16. The NABU stated that the searches were carried out under the pretrial investigation of criminal case initiated into abuse of office during sale of the natural gas jointly extracted with Ukrhazvydobuvannia SE.

Prosecutor General's Office received a motion of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) to lift the immunity of the people's deputy Oleksandr Onyshchenko in June.

On June 16, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yurii Lutsenko drafted a motion requesting the Verkhovna Rada's consent for criminal prosecution, detention, and pretrial confinement of MP Oleksandr Onyshchenko. The Procedural Committee of the parliament allowed considering the withdrawal of parliamentary immunity of MP Onyshchenko on June 29.

On July 5, the parliament approved detention and arrest of people's deputy Onyshchenko.
