The police officers stopped Toyota Avalon on Khoryva Street in Kyiv having received relevant report.
"During inspection of the vehicle in the presence of witnesses, the investigators together with bomb-disposal experts have seized an AK-74 assault rifle with a magazine, EKOL-BOTAN handgun with two cartridges loaded in its magazine, a ski mask, metal handcuffs in a case, two radios, and five mobile phones," the report reads.
According to the agency, the seized evidence was sent for expert examination.
"The men who were in the car explained the law enforcers that the weapons were not real, the metal handcuffs have been found by them somewhere, while the balaclava is used by them during hunting..." the national Police reports.
The investigators have initiated criminal proceedings under Part 1 of the Article 263 (illegal possession of weapons, ammunition or explosives) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides sanction of imprisonment for a term of three to seven years.
