The President of Ukraine held meeting with Vice Minister of Defense of the Republic of Poland Tomasz Szatkowski, Minister of Defence of Latvia Raimonds Bergmanis, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Lithuania Juozas Olekas, and Minister of Defence of Estonia Hannes Hanso.

Poroshenko thanked the ministers for their support in reforming Ukraine's defense and security sector, in particular sharing experiences, assistance in treatment of the wounded, and also noted the importance of further development of Ukrainian-Polish-Lithuanian military brigade.

The president also noted that Ukraine was able to demonstrate significant progress in reforming the security and defense sector, and the development of its armed forces at short notice. During the meeting, the president paid considerable attention to the fulfillment of the Minsk accords by Ukraine aspiring to "soonest cease-fire and return of peace in the Donbas, beginning of the political process and return of Ukrainian sovereignty over the occupied territories."

At the same time Poroshenko noted that Moscow had not yet shown any willingness to comply fully with the Minsk agreements and expressed the hope that the European Council, which session would be held Dec. 17-18, would extend sanctions against the Russian Federation.

The meeting was also attended by Ukraine's NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov, Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak, Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin, and Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Andrii Taranov.
