First monument to Ukaine's Heavenly Hundred opened in US. PHOTOS

Unveiling and consecration of the monument honoring the memory of those killed in Euromaidan events in Kyiv in February of 2014, jointly called the Heavenly Hundred, as well as all who gave their lives for Ukraine, took place in the United States.

This is reported by Censor.NET citing Ukrainian diaspora website Vidia.org.

The monument has been erected near the Ukrainian Orthodox Saint Andrew church in Bloomingdale, IL.

The consecration ceremony was conducted by Filaret, Patriarch of Kyiv and Whole Rus-Ukraine.

The opening was attended by Governor of Illinois Bruce Rauner, Congressman Peter Roskam, Ukrainian Minister of Finance Natalia Jaresko, and Consul General of Ukraine in Chicago Larysa Herasko.

At the opening ceremony, letters of congratulation from Senators John McCain and Mark Kirk were read.

Senator John McCain actively supported construction of the monument. Ukrainian community in America assisted to it by fundraising for building the monument of Heavenly Hundred in Chicago.
