"The main task of this vehicle is to provide maximum protection to the crew. Besides bullet resistant properties of the vehicle, the emphasis has also been put on protection against mines and improvised explosive devices. At the same time the vehicle is sufficiently mobile and maneuverable - such vehicles are often used in cities and villages. In fact, Kozak- II is something between military SUV and armored personnel carrier. These vehicles are designed for conditions of guerrilla war when asymmetric warfare is conducted.
Kozak- II meets all international standards of MRAP (mine resistant ambush protected) class armored vehicles. This class is divided into three branches: the Ukrainian vehicle refers to the second of them due to its features and is comparable to "Dingo" - a German armored vehicle, which has shown good results. They even have some visual similarities.
Kozak- II is multipurpose equipment. It can be used for the evacuation of the wounded; a mortar or machine gun may be installed on it if there is such a necessity. These particular 10 vehicles, which have been made under the technical assignment of the National Guard, have holders for 12.7-mm NSV (NSVT) heavy machine gun mounted in the tower.
"The production of another batch of Kozak- II armored vehicles is currently in progress," Head of scientific production association Praktika Serhii Vilkov commented on the event.
