Mother of the Ukrainian pilot Nadiya Savchenko wrote a letter to German Chancellor Angela Merkel asking to assist in the liberation of her daughter held in Russian prison. She told the chancellor that Nadiya had an alibi.

Censor.NET reports citing Bild.

"Dear Mrs. Merkel, please help to save my daughter. I speak directly to You and hope that You will help us get out of this trouble," Maria Savchenko wrote in a letter published on Saturday.

According to Maria Savchenko, Nadiya has an alibi which proves her not guilty of the death of Russian journalists, which is the official reason for her detention in the Russian Federation.

The newspaper stresses that Maria Savchenko appealed directly to Merkel of despair, because she herself is not able to help her daughter. Yesterday night Russian President Vladimir Putin responded to the letter of President Petro Poroshenko. Putin pointed out that the decision on Savchenko, "will be based on legal norms and principles of humanism."
