He writes: "I got acquainted with Kostiantyn Riabchenko when we passed the first official rifle to the 8th Regiment. Then Kostia agreed to train servicemen to cope with Steyer SSG 04 308 and even bought a decent scope for it. The same day on the way back he told me about the decision to provide the military with even more powerful equipment - H-S 338 LM. But he set a condition to find worthy users for it and register it as property of a military base. Saving time I dialed a person from our patronized undercover unit and turned the loudspeaker on:
- Vadim, have you got anything more powerful than the 308th?
- Not yet, but we are trying to get 338th, it is critical for our work.
- And how's it going?
- Nowise ... (He said sadly)
- And are there any decent professionals?
And then the story about Oleksii sounded from the speaker, including his experience, services near Savur-Mohyla and qualifications. Kostia became very excited; he nodded with confidence and gave me a wink. I interrupted Vadim in mid-sentence: "You will soon have 338LM," and disconnected.
It was evident that Kostia reverently waited for the day of transfer. This time we were waiting for a special student - an experienced and promising one. And Oleksii did not disappoint us. This sniper couple needed 5 hours and 28 rounds of ammunition to sight the scope and perform excellent result. To make it short and clear to everyone: there were 3 shots made at a matchbox from a distance of 600 meters - all three were accurate. We increased the range to almost a kilometer and hit the breast silhouette. That will suffice! It was senseless to spend precious ammunition further. Such an event should be celebrated. You can even sacrifice all temporary travel plans for such a reason.
