Official Twitter account of the U.S. State Department posted satellite images dated May 9 and 12. One of them depicted more than 20 Russian military helicopters based in Belgorod, 40 km from the border with Ukraine. The images also showed the same area as of March, when the military equipment was absent.
Another selection of photos shows place of deployment of Russian troops near Rostov-on-Don, in the 75-kilometer border zone.
As reported earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on May 7 that Russia had withdrawn its troops from the border of Ukraine and suggested to check it with the help of satellite images.
At the same time, the Ukrainian authorities and NATO said they did not observe a decrease in the Russian groups in the border area. The number of Russian troops in the 200-km zone from the eastern border of Ukraine is about 38 thousand.
