Detained NABU member gives testimony, indictment to follow, - prosecutor general

Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Yurii Lutsenko says the detained detective of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) will be indicted on Thursday while several other NABU members face interview.

As reported by Censor.NET citing Interfax-Ukraine, Lutsenko told a briefing on Nov. 30.

"We have been following the bribery entrapment efforts for two months and found that a number of secret agents and formal NABU members were also involved. All of them will be interviewed. The agent who was detained yesterday will be indicted today," the prosecutor general said.

Speaking about others involved in this case, Lutsenko said that bringing of indictment against them depended on their testimonies and the decision of the investigators.

The prosecutor general also pointed out that no pre-trial restriction may be imposed against the apprehended NABU member.

He said that the detainee will be indicted on charges punished by article 370 (entrapment) and article 369 (active bribery).

On Nov. 29, the press office of the State Migration Service reported detention of the NABU member - the son of the former member of the Party of Regions Yurii Boiarskyi - while trying to bribe First Deputy Head of the State Migration Service of Ukraine Dina Pimakhova. NABU later said that the PGO and SBU unlawfully intervened in the undercover operation. The SBU conducted a search and seizure operation in the NABU on the same day.
