As reported by Censor.NET citing Espresso.TV, Prosecutor General Yurii Lutsenko told 112 Ukraine TV channel.
"380 persons have been charged with violence against peaceful protesters, including use of lethal force. The courts currently hear cases against about 270 persons. Sentences against 49 individuals have already been passed," Lutsenko said.
The prosecutor general noted that the bill on conviction in absentia approved this year contributed to the significant progress the law enforcement agencies made in investigating he crimes committed by Yanukovych associates.
"We have served indictments, ex-President Yanukovych stands trial for high treason. The investigation established those who ordered to gun down peaceful demonstrators. The case was submitted to the Pechersk court. I hope we will be authorized to carry out pre-trial investigation in absentia by the end of the year and bring new charges against Yanukovych, Zakharchenko, Yakymenko and Totskyi, who, as we suspect, gave the criminal order to shoot at peaceful protesters," the prosecutor general said.
Lutsenko says Yanukovych shall stand new trial immediately after the verdict on his high treason is passed.
