Court authorizes NABU to seize documents from Poroshenko’s factory

The Solomianskyi district court of Kyiv temporarily granted detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) access to the documents of the Rybalsky Kuznia shipyard (formerly Lenin Kuznia shipyard) under probe into Triton armored vehicles procurement at inflated prices. The enterprise is owned by President Petro Poroshenko and his right-hand man MP Ihor Kononenko.

As reported by Censor.NET referring to LIGA, this was stated in the court ruling of Oct. 18 published in the State Register of Judicial Decisions.

According to the ruling, NABU is investigating delivery of Triton armored vehicles by Rybalsky Kuznia to the State Border Guard Service funded from the state budget. The investigation found that in November 2015 the military unit No.1498 concluded two contracts with the plant worth 59.5 million (about $2,204,000). Rybalsky Kuznia shipped four Tritons under the agreement in December 2015 and March 2016.

The court ruling reads that the price of a remotely controlled combat vehicle was to be 4.75 million hryvnia. However, the actual price paid by the State Border Guard Service for one Triton-0103 amounted to 14.876 million hryvnia.

The court pointed out that the public funds were spent for inferior special purpose equipment incapable of performing the functions and tasks expected by the agency when ordered.

As reported, the Rybalsky Kuznia shipyard's largest shareholder with 82.5 percent stake is Prime Assets Capital owned by Petro Poroshenko. The rest 11.5 percent stake belongs to Ihor Kononenko's VIK Foundation.
