"We are planning to introduce the system of biometric control effective Jan. 1, with fingerprint scanners at crossing points. So that our secret services had their own database of foreigners entering Ukraine," Vadym Troian said.

He said that a lot of illegal immigrants have been entering Ukraine recently from Russia, as long as Russian visa process is simple and anyone can legally enter the neighboring country. And then, avoiding the crossing points, these people try to enter Ukraine using every little trick, Troian said.

This issue could be solved through increasing the density of the border, the deputy interior minister said.

"Now we're having one border unit for every 80-100 kilometers of the border. However, foreign experience says that in order to reliably protect the border of the state, we need to have units one in every 20 kilometers," Troian said.
