Single cases of ammo detonation recorded in Kalynivka depot, - State Emergency Service

Single explosions continue occurring at the ammunition depot in Kalynivka, the Vinnytsia region, affected by major fire last week.

Censor.NET reports citing the press office of the State Emergency Service.

"As of 7 a.m. Oct. 2, no open fire points are seen, single cases of shell detonation are recorded," the report reads.

A joint ordnance unit of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine comprising 108 persons and 41 units of hardware has examined 12,600 hectares of the territory in search for explosive devices, and continues to accept and fulfill orders by the population. Since the rescue operation started, 313 calls have been accepted, 309 checked, and 547 explosive devices found and seized.

The emergency is being liquidated by 1,763 persons and 333 units of equipment. Agencies involved are the State Emergency Service, the National Police, the National Guard, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Healthcare Ministry, Vinnytsiahaz and Ukrzaliznytsia.

A headquarters for emergency liquidation and an alarm response group from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine are operating on the scene.

As reported, on Sept. 26 at around 10 p.m., State Emergency Service was reported of ammunition explosions in the military depot of the Defense Ministry in Kalynivka village. A Censor.NET source said that the explosions were heard in the village, and ammo was seen flying over the depot. The Kalynivka depot is more than 1,000 ha and packed with ammunition of various types.

As of 10 a.m. Sept. 27, more than 30,000 people have been evacuated. For that purpose, 50 buses, 10 ambulances, and Emergency Service psychologists were involved. Two people were traumatized and taken to hospitals.
