The OSCE SMM observed a 25-percent increase in the number of cease-fire violations, Hug said. The truce was breached 2,469 times throughout the contact line, which means the cease-fire was marred, Hug said.

The sides employed mortars, artillery, rifles, and heavy machine guns, he said.

In most cases of the fire, residential areas and vicinity were hit, Hug said.

According to the OSCE SMM, since the beginning of the year the hostilities have led to 388 civilian casualties, including 68 dead and 320 wounded. Nineteen percent of the casualties were children, Hug said.
