SBU knew of sabotage act prepared for Poroshenko's birthday in Vinnytsia region, - journalist

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) possessed information about possible preparation of a sabotage act in the Vinnytsia region on Sept. 26, the birthday of President Petro Poroshenko.

Censor.NET Chief Editor Yurii Butusov wrote in his article on the fire and explosions at the ammunition depot in Kalynivka, the Vinnytsia region.

"Indirect factors allow us stating it was a Russian sabotage act as a main reason behind the catastrophe. Kalynivka is the fourth ammunition depot blown up in Ukraine in the past two years of the war. All explosions occurred during cold seasons, when flammability is low. No messages of fire were received by rescuers before explosions occurred," Butusov wrote.

"This day [Sept. 26 - ed.] was the birthday of President Petro Poroshenko, and a sabotage act in his home Vinnytsia region could not be a coincidence," the journalist said.

"The Security Service knew of the possibility of a sabotage act in the Vinnytsia region on that day, and they were searching for saboteurs," Butusov said.

He said the day before, SBU, Interior Ministry and the Armed Forces conducted a counter-sabotage operation in the Vinnytsia region, disguised as anti-terrorist exercise. However, the law enforcers were not able to find the possible target of the sabotage act.

As reported, on Sept. 26 at around 10 p.m., State Emergency Service was reported of ammunition explosions in the military depot of the Defense Ministry in Kalynivka village. A Censor.NET source said that the explosions were heard in the village, and ammo was seen flying over the depot. The Kalynivka depot is more than 1,000 ha and packed with ammunition of various types.
