 Court sanctions detention of ex-Judge Kireiev who tried Yuliia Tymoshenko


The Kyiv Court of Appeal has sanctioned the detention of Rodion Kireiev, the former judge of the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv known for having jailed Ukraine's former Prime Minister and Batkivshchyna leader Yuliia Tymoshenko.

As reported by Censor.NET referring to the court's press service, the panel of judges has ruled:

- to uphold the appellate complaint filed by the prosecutor regarding the previous court's rejection of the request to detain Kireiev;
- to cancel the order of the investigative judge of the Desnianskyi District Court of Kyiv of July 5;
- to pass another order to grant the request for permission to arrest Kireiev;
- to sanction the detention of suspect Kireiev.

In 2011, Rodion Kireiev, then judge of the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv, tried and convicted Yuliia Tymoshenko. In 2014, he was put on the wanted list for knowingly rendering an unjust decision.Источник: https://censor.net.ua/en/n456039
