Names of seven people detained for embezzlement in Wall project made public

Prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office will serve indictments to persons that were detained as suspects of embezzling funds of the Wall project, aimed at enhancing Ukraine-Russia border.

SAP Head Nazar Kholodnytskyi told journalists on Wednesday, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.

"At the moment, prosecutor together with detectives are making corrections to all indictments, and I think they will be announced today. We will then choose the restraint measure," he said.

Prosecutors will ask the court to arrest the suspects with an alternative bail of total amount of 16 million hryvnia ($620,000), Kholodnytskyi said.

He added the investigation has evidence provided by engineering and city planning expertise that the Wall Project construction inflicted damages of 16.688 million hryvnia.

"The work was done low-quality, not under requested conditions, not in volumes declared in job completion reports. Instead of three meter wide roads they constructed 2.2-meter roads. If an emergency arose, hardware would not be able to pass each other on this road," Kholodnytskyi said.
