Ukraine became testing ground for Russia's latest cyberweapon, - Turchynov

Ukraine, where Russia commits regular cyberattacks in different sectors, has became a testing field for the aggressor's latest weapons.

This was announced by National Security and Defense Council Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov during First International Global Cybersecurity Summit 2017 (GCS 2017) in Kyiv, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.

"Ukraine as a state that has unique experience of opposing Russian hybrid aggression has also gained experience of counteracting the threats spread from the cyberspace. I mean the attempt to intervene in the presidential election in 2014, attacks upon energy and financial sectors of our state, attempts to crack transport systems, etc. In fact, Ukraine has become a testing field for the latest cyberweapons of the aggressor country," Turchynov said.

Ukraine's security and defense sector reacts properly to the new situation, Turchynov said.

"In 2016, the Cybersecurity Strategy was approved, the National Coordination Center for Cybersecurity set up; the Armed Forces of Ukraine, law enforcers, and intelligence are gaining relevant skills," he added.

The first international Global Cybersecurity Summit 2017 (GCS 2017) is taking place in Kyiv on June 14-15.
