Kyiv residents to pay 15 percent more for cold water and drainage


The National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission has increased rates for consumers of cold water supply and drainage by Kyivvodokanal PJSC up to 15.79 hryvnia per cubic meter ($0.60), which makes a 14.7 percent increase.

The Commission's decisions ##551-552 dated April 26, 2017 have been published in Uriadovyi Kurier government newspaper on May 11, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.

The rate for cold water supply increases by 23.3 percent, up to 8.44 hryvnia per cubic meter, for water drainage - by 6.1 percent, up to 7.36 hryvnia per cubic meter.

The key reasons behind the rates increase are a rise in Kyivvodokanal staff salaries by 19-20 percent, and 46-72 percent higher taxes and duties.
