Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yurii Lutsenko told a briefing that the funds seized from Yanukovych will be transferred by the end of day, Censor.NET reports citing 112 Ukraine TV channel.
He explained that it was a pooled cash fund of Yanukovych regime which involved the money stolen from every Ukrainian.
"The exact amount is being verified: the amount of cash, how much he kept in securities, but it's not less than $1.5 billion, which is approximately 40 billion hryvnia.
"The funds are now being transferred to the state treasury. We are talking about a hundred accounts used by the members of Yanukovych-run crime ring to keep securities. Therefore, this process will be completed today. I am constantly in touch with the management of Oschadbank, investigators, and prosecutors inside the bank," the prosecutor general said.
The court decision on the confiscation of $1.5 billion in Oschadbank accounts of Ukrainian ex-President Viktor Yanukovych and his cronies in favor of the Ukrainian state budget took effect April 28.
