Lviv garbage to be taken to other cities’ landfills until local authorities make final decision, - Cabinet

Solid municipal waste (SMW) will be taken from Lviv to the dump sites of other cities in the Lviv region.

As reported by Censor.NET citing Interfax-Ukraine, the press office of Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister Volodymyr Kistion said that the Lviv region authorities will sign a memorandum to solve Lviv's SMW disposal issue on Friday.

The document provides for the city garbage to be taken and disposed of at landfills of other cities of the Lviv region before the Lviv City Council takes the final decisions.

The memorandum on cooperation between the Lviv Regional State Administration, the Lviv Regional Council, the Lviv City Council and government bodies of the cities where the garbage is planned to be delivered will be signed on Friday in the presence of Vice Premier Kistion, heads of the Lviv Regional State Administration and Council and chairpersons of the mentioned city councils of the Lviv region.

As reported, Lviv has been facing the solid municipal waste removal troubles after the local dump site in Hrybovychi village was closed due to death of several people caused by waste slide and extensive fire in May 2016.
