 Prisoner beaten in remand center by Tornado fighter Kholod died due to skull injury

Kholod is now facing a new term of seven to 10 years.

Press secretary for the deputy justice minister Yurii Maslak told Censor.NET.

Two days ago, ex-fighter of Tornado battalion Illia Kholod beat up his cellmate Matvieiev during yard time at the Lukianivka remand prison.

The cause of the conflict has not been disclosed due to the secrecy of inquiry proceedings. As reported, Matvieiev has not been convicted yet and faced charges under part 3 of article 153 (committing unnatural sexual acts against minors).

The Obolon district court has already sentenced Kholod to nine and a half years in prison. Charges against him also involve article 153, however part 2 - committing unnatural sexual acts by a group of persons.

Now Kholod is facing an additional term of 7 to 10 years as severe bodily injury he inflicted to another person caused his death.

Earlier, it was reported that the beaten cellmate of Kholod underwent a skull surgery.
