This was stated by European Parliament's rapporteur on visa liberalization Mariya Gabriel before visa liberalization debate on Wednesday and the relevant vote on Thursday, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.
She expressed confidence that Ukrainian citizens had the right to instantly get the opportunity to travel to the EU without visa. According to her, Ukraine has not only fulfilled all the criteria defined by the EU, but exceeded the EU's expectations.
Gabriel noted that visa waiver was of particular importance for ordinary Ukrainians and was an important step to strengthen Ukraine-EU partnership.
The European Parliament is going to vote on visa liberalization for Ukraine on Thursday, April 6.
According to the procedure, this decision should be later approved by the Council of the European Union. The document must also be signed by the EP president and the chairman of the Council of the European Union in May. The decision will come into force 20 days after it is published.
