 Court extends arrest of Yefremov until April 28

The Starobilsk district court of the Luhansk region has extended the arrest of former Party of Regions parliamentary faction head Oleksandr Yefremov until April 28.

Censor.NET reports referring to Ukrinform.

The court ruled "to extend the pre-trial detention term for Oleksandr S. Yefremov untill April 28, 2017 inclusively."

Yefremov's previous detention term expires on March 17

As reported, Yefremov was detained in Boryspil airport on July 30, 2016 on suspicion of infringement of the territorial integrity of Ukraine. The detention was intended to prevent a possible escape of the suspect.

Yefremov is indicted for:
- organizing the seizure of the building of the Luhansk Regional State Administration;
- aiding in the capture of the building of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Luhansk region;
- committing deliberate actions to change Ukraine's territory and state border;
- aiding the establishment and activities of the terrorist organization "Luhansk People's Republic";
- high treason.

The Prosecutor General Office of Ukraine had detained Yefremov previously in Feb. 2015 on charges of financing separatists in the Luhansk region and appropriating the assets of Luhanskvuhillia SE. Then, he was remanded in custody with the possibility of posting a 3.7 million hryvnia bail as an alternative. He was bailed out by former Party of Regions MP Borys Kolesnikov.
