Dzhemilev: "About 20,000 Crimean Tatars already left Crimea"

Since the beginning of Crimea's occupation by the Russian Federation, about 20,000 Crimean Tatars have left the peninsula.

Leader of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev said during the telethon "Crimea. Three years of resistance," Censor.NET reports citing Krym.Realii.

"About 20,000 Crimean Tatars have already left Crimea. They reply to our calls [to return], saying: 'You can not guarantee my son won't be killed tomorrow, can you?' And we have nothing to say here," Dzhemilev said.

He also added Russia uses a different tactic against the Crimean Tatars, driving them beyond the Crimean borders.

"They create various conditions for the Tatars to leave the peninsula. Immediately after the occupation, we feared there would be a new deportation of the Crimean Tatars, since we had all the prerequisites in place. But it did not happen," Dzhemilev added.
