On Jan. 9, 2016, Stanislav Tolstosheiev, son of a Donetsk businessman, drove onto a sidewalk near Livoberezhna metro station in his Mercedes GL, killing one person and injuring three. He was later reported to be staying in the hospital and have a chronic illness that led to the accident.

On Jan. 13, Tolstosheiev was served an indictment for a fatal car accident.

On Jan. 15, he was remanded in custody with bail established at 137,000 hryvnia (approx. $5,260).

Soon it became known the Kyiv prosecutor's office had closed the case against the 21-year-old rich kid. Given the public outcry, Prosecutor General Lutsenko insisted on relaunching the probe.

On Jan. 16, 2017, the prosecutor's office said that new forensic findings confirm Tolstosheiev lost control of the vehicle due to a sudden epileptic seizure and is hence non-imputable.
