Snow, glazed frost, wind: weather to deteriorate in Ukraine during Jan. 6-8

Forecasters warn of worsening weather conditions between Jan. 6-8.

As reported by Censor.NET citing the State Emergency Service press office, the adverse weather conditions are provoked by an active Black Sea cyclone.

During Jan. 6-8, 2017, heavy snowfall of 25-30 cm, snowstorm and snowdrifts are expected across the Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kirovohrad, Cherkasy, Poltava, Sumy, southern areas of Kyiv, and eastern areas of Vinnytsia regions.

The wind speed will increase to 15-20 m/s. Ice buildup on wires, trees and roads is expected in the Kherson, Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Poltava regions.

During daylight on Jan. 6, the northern areas of the Black Sea will see an increase in the north wind up to 25-30 m/s, wave height reaching 3-5 m.

On Jan. 6, gusts of wind of 15-20 m/s and blizzard are expected in the Kyiv region.

The western and northern regions will experience a sharp drop in temperature to 11-16 degrees below zero. In the Carpathians and Subcarpathia, the temperature may fall to 20-25 degrees of frost.

In Kyiv, the amount of snow will range between 10-15 cm while the temperature will drop to 15-18 degrees below zero.

According to forecasters, the weather will improve on Jan. 9.
