Security Police Chief Serhii Budnyk dwelt on the progress in the probe of the Kniazhychi shootout which killed five law enforcers, including two State Guard Service officers.

He said it in an interview with Ukrainski Novyny, Censor.NET reports.

"As for Kniazhychi, an internal investigation is underway, a commission has been established that includes our representative. We have provided all the available materials both to the National Police commission and the Prosecutor General's Office which is investigating the incident. I can not assess things which I haven't not seen.

"According to my information, the police guards used firearms in Kniazhychi. One of our employees used a Makarov pistol and another fired a Kalashnikov - the standard firearms our groups are equipped with. He fired through the car door. Our employees wore bullet-proof vests. As far as I know, the Prosecutor General's Office has a video footage showing who opened fire and from where, and how the situation evolved. A number of examinations are being held," he said.

"We've suspended all employees involved in the Kniazhychi incident: the district chief, the person responsible for the group's arrival, two drivers and one inspector. Five people in total," Budnyk added.
