"We know of 109 our guys held in terrorists’ prisons, 492 still considered missing in action," – SBU’s Hrytsak

The pro-Russian militants hold 109 Ukrainian hostages in prisons in the occupied parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

As reported by Censor.NET, this was said by Chairman of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Hrytsak in an interview to Ukrinform.

He stressed that the agency members were actively involved in liberation of Ukrainians.

"I have repeatedly stressed that we will never rest until we liberate the last our compatriot from the terrorists' dungeons and Russian prisons. I undertook these commitments at the meetings with the families of the hostages, and it's a matter of honor for me to fulfill them," Hrytsak said.

"We know about 109 our guys held in terrorists' prisons, 492 are still considered missing in action. Again, we constantly make efforts to release hostages. This is the issue we are ready to make concessions in to return hostages to their families as soon as possible," the law enforcement official said.

"Ukraine initiated the exchange of 59 our hostages confirmed by the militants for 228 separatists' accomplices, who are under investigation, trial or are already serving their sentences. SBU will make every effort for this swap to take place before the Christmas holidays. For our part, we will make all the necessary procedural steps without delay," the SBU chairman said.
