CEC head Okhendovskyi served indictment for bribery, - NABU, SAP

On Dec. 13, detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office served an indictment against the chairman of the Central Election Commission on charges of committing criminal offenses under parts 3, 4 of article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (taking large and very large bribes by persons holding positions of high responsibility).

"The total amount of bribes the suspect is charged with makes $161,698, which is equivalent to 1,294,438 hryvnia at the rate of the National Bank of Ukraine at the time of committing the crimes.

"As established, the CEC chairman made six foreign trips in 2012 related to his professional activities as head of the Central Election Commission, which, according to investigators, were financed by the Party of Regions.

"The suspect has been summoned for questioning," the statement notes.
