3,064 law enforcement fighters killed in ATO, 10,753 received injuries, - Chief of Staff Muzhenko

About 3,000 law enforcement employees were killed, 10,800 injured since the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) started in the east of Ukraine in 2014.

This was announced by Chief of the General Staff of Ukraine's Armed Forces Viktor Muzhenko in an interview to Holos Ukrainy governmental newspaper, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainski Novyny.

Muzhenko presented data on Ukraine's death toll in the ATO since its beginning in 2014 as of late November 2016.

"Since the ATO started, we have had 3,064 persons from across law enforcement agencies killed. 2,636 of them were the Armed Forces of Ukraine servicemen, 2,148 of which were battle losses. We've also had 10,753 wounded, including 8,897 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," he said.

Muzhenko said that the General Staff calculated that in case of a full-scale invasion of Russia, Ukraine might be losing 10,000-12,000 people every 10 days.

The chief of the General Staff said that the Ukrainian Army is capable of some adequate retaliation to the Russian military threat, but will have to increase its troops significantly and provide more high-quality resource provision in case of a full-scale aggression by the neighboring country.
