Russian Dozhd TV channel film crew gone missing in occupied Donetsk

A camera crew of Dozhd TV channel has gone missing in occupied Donetsk. Correspondents for Dozhd Sergey Yerzhenkov and Vasily Polonsky stopped picking up their phones on Friday, Nov. 25.

Censor.NET reports citing the statement on the TV channel's website.

Before the disappearance, Polonsky managed to inform the editorial staff that the crew was detained by the so-called "MGB" (Ministry of State Security) of the self-proclaimed "Donetsk People's Republic". The "MGB" told Dozhd employees that no one was detained by the "agency" on Friday.

Dozhd TV channel crew obtained accreditation for work in Donetsk both in the Security Service of Ukraine and the "Ministry of Information" of the "DPR". The journalists entered the "DPR" from the territory controlled by Ukrainian government on Thursday.

The correspondents planned to film several stories for the TV channel on the territory of the "DPR". They filmed an interview with former Secretary of the "Security Council of the "DPR" Alexander Khodakovsky on Thursday.

Khodakovsky later told Dozhd staff he suspected that the reporters were detained to hold preventive talks with as the press secretary of Zakharchenko (militant's leader) overstepped her competency by accrediting Dozhd TV channel journalists behind Zakharchenko's back.

In turn, Zakharchenko's assistant Alena Alekseeva said she knew nothing about the journalists' detention.
