 Obama, EU leaders agree to keep Russia sanctions until Minsk deal fulfilled

The leaders of the United States, Germany, Britain, France, Italy and Spain at a meeting in Berlin agreed on the need to maintain sanctions against Russia.

As noted, the American and European leaders agreed that sanctions against Russia should be maintained until the Kremlin fully meets its commitments under the Minsk agreements.

The participants also affirmed the importance of continued cooperation through multilateral institutions, including NATO, and commitment to the transatlantic agenda.

"The leaders agreed on the necessity of working collectively to move the transatlantic agenda forward, particularly on bringing stabilization to the Middle East and North Africa, as well as securing diplomatic resolution to the conflicts in Syria and eastern Ukraine," the statement notes.
