SBU prevents murder of former FSB officer Bogdanov who sided with Ukraine in 2014, agency head says

The abduction and murder of the ex-member of the Russian secret service was plotted by a crime ring coordinated from Russia.

As reported by Censor.NET citing the statement of SBU Chairman Vasyl Hrytsak made on air of 112 Ukraine TV channel, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) prevented the murder of abducted ex-officer of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) Ilya Bogdanov, who turned himself over to Ukraine in 2014.

"The operation that we carried out was related to the intentions of an organized crime group coordinated from Russia to abduct and murder a Ukrainian citizen," Hrytsak said.

"We found that they had abducted Ilya Bogdanov and planned to take him to Russia. We have created a task force which included 'Alpha' Special Operations Center commandos and sent it in Kharkiv since Bogdanov was held there. We have located the abductors and captured them at the border. We call them the logisticians. All of them are Ukrainian nationals," the SBU explained.
