Two militants apprehended in Donbas

Two pro-Russian militants were apprehended in the Donetsk region.

Censor.NET reports citing the National Police in the Donetsk region.

One of them, a 35-year-old man, joined the militants during battles for Sloviansk in 2014. He received a call sign "Tan" and had to guard barracks with 100 militants. The terrorists occupied a school on the outskirts of the town not far from the militants' stronghold. Tan and his commanders, nicknamed "Marauder" and "Thor", had fled the occupied city of Donetsk a week later.

Shortly, the man escaped from his Russian supervisors to the Ukraine-controlled territory. He came back to the village of his parents in Lyman district and was hiding under the guise of a civilian.

Another person, a 31-year-old resident of Mariupol, has the similar story to tell. In April 2014, he participated in the rallies, guarded captured administrative buildings and was on duty at checkpoints hunting for the "U.S. spies" and "Bandera's soldiers". After the liberation of the city, the man stayed in Mariupol. Later, the police exposed and detained him.

Criminal proceedings have been launched under article 260 (part.2) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The militants face up to eight years in prison for participation in the illegal armed groups.
