 France establishes contacts with Putin, Merkel, Poroshenko prior to possible summit on Ukraine

France invites the so-called Normandy Four (leaders of France, Germany, Ukraine, and Russia gathering to settle the situation in Ukraine) to tackle the issue of holding a new summit in Berlin.

French government spokesman Stephane Le Foll said Wednesday, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.

The official noted that a possible meeting among the leaders might be held in Berlin.

Stephane Le Foll explained that the contacts with Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel will be established today, and with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko - tomorrow "to try to get traction on the search for the political solution" of the war in the Donbas.

He added that Francoise Hollande was going to contact Vladimir Putin and Angela Merkel on Wednesday evening. However, the spokesperson did not rule out the trilateral format of talks.
